Tasting Notes

Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Dec 16
In this tasting, the 1982 Collection (Magnum) comes across as tightly wound, with tons of crystalline energy in reserve. There is no shortage of precision or nuance, but the 1982 doesn't quite have the body of the 1981 nor the aromatic finesse of the 1985, both of which I tasted alongside it. The 1982 is bright, tense, and, as much as I am shocked to say it, painfully young. When will the 1982 from magnum be at its best? I am not sure, but it does not appear to be now.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
